Porting Quickbooks to Linux

I have long been in the hopes that Intuit would consider porting their products to Linux. There are quite a few of us in small businesses who would like to see this happen.Even though I am able to run Quicken in Linux with the aid of Crossover Linux which is a Windows emulator, that is not the case with Quickbooks 2008. I am forced to maintain a Windows operating system, just to use Quickbooks only. I don't use Windows for anything else. Having to reboot to change operating systems just for one program is a nuisance to say the least. Then, there is the cost of additional software to help maintain Windows security. Someday soon, I hope Intuit will realize that there is a new and growing market of Linux users.

The sad truth of the porting issue is PROFIT. until the major players of the software market can see substantial profits porting for Linux. it will never happen. even with  the safety issues of  EVERY Microsoft product released in the last 20 years . they continue to back Microsoft because of market share not " customer " choice.

Ask any customer if they would prefer the data on their systems be safe and 99% will say yes. explain to them they can't use the exact same software that they have used since they switched over from a paper based office to an electronic office and you'll see them "re-think" safety. for convenience . amazingly enough with all the credit card fraud and identity theft. not a single one has been through a Linux based system .

It would be a simple and profitable sales pitch to offer a Linux based Quickbooks. based on protecting customer and company data But  like I said it won't happen until Linux can get at least 10% of the OS market share . my thoughts are based on the 10% that Mac currently;y has

I WOULD LOVE TO BE PROVED WRONG ..hint hint hint

You can run QuickBooks using a local or remote Linux server. That server can be local for Enterprise. It also can be a remote Citrix server from a company like NovelASPect, at a cost of $29 - $40 / user / month.
