pdf file location after import

Lacerte : 2010

One of the touted benefits of the Tax Import is that you get a bookmarked pdf file of the scanned documents returned to you.  So, after importing, where is the file, and what suffix appends?  I, or the client, may want to access the scanned documents later. I had staff do the import during the season and when I asked to see the file they said they didn't know where it was. Once the review feature was added, I was able to placed the file in a folder where I could access it later, and it has a pdf suffix.  Following up on this thread http://community.intuit.com/posts/tax-import-destination, Phoebe says it goes to the IDATA folder. I have looked there but do not see any pdf files.  I should have asked earlier, but thought I was being stupid.  Now, even if I am, I don't care.

The more I know, the more I don't know.

I have no reason to believe they'd carry a .pdf suffix.  Historically, DMS files have had the suffixes stripped off.

If I wanted phone calls, my phone number would be in my profile. If you have a question, post it in the applicable forum.

Do you know what suffix they would have?

I think they're simply without suffix, but I don't have DMS or any import files to test that theory.

After you submit your source documents to us and import the data, we save a highlighted PDF file for later review.  The easiest way to view that file is by highlighting that client in Lacerte or ProSeries, and clicking on the icon that looks like an open folder in the toolbar :

·         If you’re a DMS user, this button will open DMS to the folder that contains this PDF file.

·         If you’re not a DMS user, this button will open Windows Explorer to the correct file location.

o   Note:  in Windows Explorer you can determine the file location in the address bar or top of this window.  You can also right click on the PDF and select properties.  The exact location of the file is listed on the General Tab.

Please help me improve my performance by answering a short survey that will be emailed to you from the community.

I tried this and got nothing.  I do not use DMS.  So I click on the "open folder" picture which says "View Tax Import Review Files" and nothing happens.  I tried 3 different clients.  These clients' info had already been imported.

In Ask Intuit I got this:http://support.accountant.intuit.com/law-war/product=LACERTE_TAX&ampid=GE.... When I go to that folder, it contains 2 empty folders dated 9/28/11.  Ask Intuit also turned up several mentions of stuff that went wrong with Tax Import filesafter the 9/28/11 update.  So maybe my files were there, but they went kaput on 9/28/11?

This sounds like a question our Tech Support folks may need to help you with.  Please call them at 1-800-933-9999 if you're a Lacerte customer, or 1-800-434-6818 if you are a ProSeries customer.  Thanks.
