Could you tell me as to which version of QuickBooks are you using?
I'm having the exact same problem after installing Windows 7 (64 Bit). I also have QuickBooks Pro 2009. I can't email my invoices.
Support for Windows 7 PDF converter should be available in the next update of QuickBooks 2009 which will be out in about a months time.
Hi Sudhir,
How's that update coming along? Would be really helpful if this were fixed. Can I expect it to work anytime soon?
I don't think you will see any support for Windows 7 with QB 2009. They won't go back to anything older than QB 2010.
If you install in WIndows XP Mode (you need W7 Professional or higher for that) you might be able to get around it.
Otherwise, I would suggest considering upgrading to QB 2011, which uses a totally different PDF printer driver, and it works much better with W7.
2009 R11 had a major PDF driver fix, but they don't specify anything for W7. Take a look at my article on this at http://qbblog.ccrsoftware.info/2010/02/quickbooks-2009-r11-update-fixes-pdf-printer-problems-with-64-bit-systems/
So, we can't send any e-mails from quickbooks??? Wow, that's going to be an awfully long month!
I agree! That is how i found the problem. Fortunately I still have a version running on an XP machine.
A quick workaround is to download Cute PDF Writer, http://www.cutepdf.com/product...
Install software you can print invoice by slecxting pdf writer from the printer list This creates a pdf file for emailing.

I have the same problem with QB Pro 2007 (updated) on a machine running Vista Home Premium (64 bit).
My work around, (clumsy) is to open the Printers Folder in Control Panel and delete the QBooks PDF writer.
This works because I aready have Adobe installed on my machine, and can hence either print to the Adobe PDF maker as a printer, or to my local hard copy printer. And I have to remember that every time I open Qbooks, it will reinstall the QBookspdf writer, so that before you even try to do any printing out of Qbooks, open the control panel printers folder and delete the Qbookpdf writer. If there is a pending document in the printer, that must be cancelled, or you can't delete the Qbookspdf writer.
I wish there was a way to prevent Qbooks from loading the pdfwriter every time I open it.

Here's the solution that worked for me...
I am running Quickbooks Pro 2009 version R10 on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.
What I found is that Quickbooks needs an older 32-bit version of xmllite.dll for the Amyuni PDF printer to work. The simple solution is to copy the correct file into your Quickbooks program folder.
The correct version is:
xmllite.dll
File size: 119 KB
File version 1.0.1018.0
It just happens to be part of a self-extracting zip file, QBDPDF_303.exe, that can be downloaded from Intuit. Here:
http://sharedldfp.intuit.com/p...
Download the self-extracting zip file and double-click to unzip it. DO NOT USE any of the other files contained in the zip. They are an old version of the Amyuni PDF printer that WILL NOT work with Windows 7 64-bit.
Here are the steps:
Make sure you have administrator privileges on your computer.
1) Close Quickbooks
2) Go to "Printers and Devices" and delete the "QuickBooks PDF Converter" and the "QuickBooks PDF Converter 3.0"
3) Copy only the xmllite.dll file into your Quickbooks 2009 program folder.
For me that folder is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks 2009
AND copy xmllite.dll into this folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks
4) Reboot
5) Open Quickbooks, go to any invoice and select "File" and "Save as PDF...". You may have to close Quickbooks and repeat step 5 twice.
Step 5 will recreate the QuickBooks PDF Converter and should print your test PDF. You should also be able to email invoices now.
NOTE- Go to "Printers and Devices" and make sure the "QuickBooks PDF Converter" is NOT the default printer. If it is, make another printer the default and repeat steps 4 & 5 above.
If the above steps fail to work you may also need to uninstall and reinstall the Amyuni PDF printer. Here's how:
A) Do steps 1-3 above
B) Open a command prompt in your Quickbooks program folder and run the command "install -u". That will do the uninstall.
C) Reboot
D) Open a command prompt in your Quickbooks program folder and run the command "install". That will do the install.
E) Go to "Printers and Devices" and delete the "Amyuni PDF printer" if it exists
F) Do steps 4-5 above
Hope this helps!
To wpwood3:
I've never commented on any of these things but I had to say thank you. I spent hours and hours the last couple nights trying to get this to work and you finally got it right. I hope everyone finds your post that needs it. You the man thanks again.

The 2009 R10 and 2010 R4 updates introduced a problem with the PDF Converter. Intuit has a posting that resolves the article by providing a new DLL file. You can see my article about this at http://qbblog.ccrsoftware.info/2010/01/quickbooks-2010-and-2009-pdf-printer-problems-with-64-bit-systems/
I didn't try the DLL update that wpwood3 describes above myself, as I didn't see this posting until after I resolved the problem using the Intuit solution. wpwood3 uses a different dll in his update. I'm not sure if that one will work with the 2010 update or not. Again, I've not tried that solution.
They made me purchase QB version 2010 because they promised that it would fix all of my problems with windows 7 64k, well guess what.... it's even worse than before. I cannot even print on my regular printer anymore. This company is out to grab as many bucks as they can without testing their roll outs prior and then make you pay when you need to call technical support and if you refuse... they tell you that they cannot help you. I smell lawsuits.
This is crazy!!!! And there is no help on the support site. We are left to discern whether the kind-hearted members of this community know enough to be proposing solutions. Oh, and if you call customer service, they want to charge you... to fix their broken software????
My workaround has been to download CutePDF and use it to create files that I can send outside of QB interface.
Attention entrepreneurs! This is an opportunity. Clearly Intuit is vulnerable. It can't be that hard to create a modern accounting package that can meet the challenge of (omg) emailing invoices.
Well said 'outahere'. They should be called OUTOFIT rathar than Intuit and QUITBOOKS rather than Quickbooks

Actually, they posted a support article on this, 898690. The problem is finding it in their search system. Or, as I mentioned above, you can read about it in my blog (as this is something that is still evolving). Most people I've talked to have been able to resolve the problem with the fix they offer, although some still are having problems (and Intuit is working on that, I've been talking to one of the engineers about this).
A product like CutePDF is a good solution for some of the issues, but not all, and it doesn't do quite the same thing. With that kind of PDF driver you can save the invoice to a PDF file, but you still have to manually attach it to the email with the correct address. So it isn't a perfect workaround. Also, that kind of PDF driver won't fix the PDF problem you run into when you reconcile a bank account. QB uses the PDF driver internally for that, and you can't make it use CutePDF.
I appreciate the post because after I tried the new DLL file download I got a runtime error so there are issues with Intuits fix. Once I completed deleting the pdf command as stated in the post this corrected my issue of emailing invoices within Quickbooks. (HeadACHE from H*LL)

As you can see from the discussion in my blog (referenced above), some number of users are finding that the DLL download that Intuit provides as a fix has another problem - on SOME systems. It worked perfectly well on my test system, and on some user's systems, But a significant number of people have a problem with it. Intuit is working on this (they've been in direct contact with some of the readers of my blog), so hopefully there is a further solution upcoming.
I can't say that I'll post something on that fix in THIS discussion, but certainly I will on my blog when they come up with something.
Amazing! The steps from wpwood3 worked for me -- although I had to do the additional "if that doesn't work" steps at the end of un-installing and reinstalling the printer drivers from the command line.
I am one of the unlucky ones that got a runtime error after installing the dll from support that fixed the problem for "most" people. So I really thought I was stuck waiting for another release from Intuit in a few months.
