Payroll for 2009 QB discontinuing?

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows : 2009

Can a company that has the 2009 edition of QBs still use the payroll service going forward or do they have to update to the newest version. I was told that QB was discontinuing payroll for the 2009. Is this correct?

The solution

 All QB versions are discontinued after 3 years. So the payroll is no longer supported.

If you use Pro Series Basic I might not be able to help you. If you use Turbo Tax I might refuse to help you. All others, watch out! ;-)

 You will have payroll updates available until approx May, 2012.  You may want to wait a couple of months for Intuit to work out the bugs in QB 2012.
