paying 1099 contract labor employees

When paying a 1099 employee, is it better to take the time to put in as a bill to be paid and then payig bill? Why can't I just use "write checks" which seems quicker for the contract labor employees, when it is a different amount each time.

I like to use write checks only when I do not get a bill from my vendor.  If I get a bill, I enter the bill and pay the bill.  Either way gets your expense recorded for 1099 purposes.

You need to be careful here as legally there is no such thing as a "1099 emplyee". The IRS has very strict rules about the difference, which has nothing to do with how they are paid or set up in QB. For Details check with your Tax Advisor and/or consult the IRS website.

Thank you.   Yes, I do understand and know there are no such things as 1099 "employees" and only used that term as that they do work for us.  As in QB they are called a vendor, but was unclear as to the best most efficient way to pay out of QB.  I have utilized before, but it seemed that paying by "entering a bill" was time consuming and honestly steps were used, that were not needed.  Writing a check gives you all the same information, do you agree?

The solution

Yes, using write checks will give you the same results.  If I receive an bill from a sub, I like to enter a bill and pay the bill.  Subs are not always they best in their billing practices.  I use bills when they issue one to me to track their services.  It just depends on how you track your business.  Checks will work just fine too.
