Paid preparer section on form 941

US QuickBooks Premier

I want to e-file my customer's Form 941 through QuickBook, but the program requires me to enter an EIN in the Paid Preparer section. I am a sole proprietor using my SSN only. Why can't I e-file without entering an EIN in the Paid Preparer section? I entered my PTIN where required.

I'd recommend getting an EIN even though you're operating as a Sole-P. There's just too many instances where a tax ID number may be needed and you don't want to be forced to give out your SSN because of the risk of identity theft.
