Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! During this time, you can shop, but can’t place orders online, activate products or update account info. We apologize for the inconvenience & thank you for patience while we improve our infrastructure to better serve you. International versions are unaffected. For more info, see our community discussion.

One return over-writing another

I was going through my homebase tonight and noticed that one of my clients was missing. I looked further down the list and found the client ID associated with another return. Both have been e-filed and accepted. I looked at the return that has stolen the id of the missing one and all the information is correct for that return. Has anyone seen this problem. I have a stand alone version, using it with Vista. I have never seen this problem before. What a pain, like we have time for this kind of stuff in the middle of busy season.

The only time I had this problem was with family members. By coincidence, two of them had the same last 4 digits of their SSNs, and since the default for naming files is name1234, by chance their filenames were identical.

One was previously e-filed, and one was not. The new one over-wrote the old one, and then could not be e-filed since "it" already had been e-filed.

I just re-saved the new one with a new filename, and all was well.

These two clients have different last names and different last 4 of their SS #. Luckly both were e-filed before this happened. I just don't understand why we pay so much for a program that costs us more in the long run.
