non-profit donors

I'm a new user to the Quickbooks Non-profit product.  I think I am missing a step. I have recorded all of our church members contributions under donors. I can print a donor report but not individually.  I am using a separate product found under live community only now it is not finding any data, it says totals zero. When I look at a donor in customer ctr, all data is listed as sales receipts, is this why?  I do not see totals for anyone under their respective names under customer ctr either.  What step if any am I missing?  Sorry I am so wordy, but any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  P.S. when I print the donors report totals are in there, so I am at a loss and need to get out these letters soon.
