It appears that qblittlesquare has been hacked. I really need to know about QuickBooks (2009, particularly) support for Lion ASAP.

Yes, Little Square has been the victim of a hacker attack. We are in the process of restoring it now. But to answer you question, QuickBooks 2009 will not be supported on Lion. Here's a support article with more detail:

http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/Articles/IN...

The known issues with QuickBooks 2009 are crashes with printing and creating PDFs.

Some users are choosing to hold off on moving to Lion or are setting up a separate partition with Snow Leopard running that will run software like Office 2004 and earlier versions of QuickBooks. It's by no means ideal. But it is a alternative some users are trying.

Any chance we can get some updates on when QB2011 will work with Lion??   Since your other site is hacked and down perhaps you could put the updates here.  Right now QB2011 payroll does not work.  This could be a real problem come the 1st.

Hi! QuickBooks 2011 for Mac is compatible and supported on Lion. Be sure you download the latest updates (QuickBooks > Check for QuickBooks updates). I saw your other tweets and posts. You mentioned having trouble with Payroll there. Are you having trouble with QuickBooks or is it when you try to do Payroll? Can you give us more details please?

I'm amazed at the audacity of Intuit and their "Lion Upgrade Policy". This is the ONLY large software comany that refuses to support their own product that's only a year old on a new OS. How does Intuit get away with forcing purchased upgrades on consumers when even companies that comete directly with Apple (Adobe, Micrsoft) would never consider such a policy.

Intuit refuses to provide OS compatibility between Mac OS and Windows and (Adobe and Microsoft do) and provides an inferior software package for Macs.

I wish Apple would just buy Intuit and straighten out this backwards company.

Concur completely.  It's incredible.  One year old and Quicbooks 2010 won't be supported in Lion.  And the upgrade... which includes ZERO new features I need or will use is nearly $190.  And have you read the reasons why?  Gotta be politicians running Intuit.. never read such BS except from politicians.  I have to believe "Alternatives To Quickbooks For Mac" is one of the hottest google searches at the present time. - JamesJM

I might have posted in the wrong section.  My question is - will QB 2010 have a patch come out so it will work with Lion?

You're in the right place. Here's Intuit's official statement:

Although QuickBooks for Mac 2010 and earlier versions may run on Mac OS X v10.7, some features may not run correctly.  Earlier versions of QuickBooks were designed and built to run on the Mac OS version that was available at that time and not Mac OS X v10.7.

We recommend that if you choose to upgrade to the current Mac OS X v10.7 that you also upgrade to the current version of QuickBooks.

Consider looking into a truly Mac-friendly solution, like Account Edge [removed]

Call APPLE if you are on a MAC and explain the situation. They sent me a new version of Quickbooks for FREE. Intuit on the other hand could care less!!! Evidently APPLE has changed their language from Rosetta to an updated 32 code and Intuit is unwilling to do anything to make 2010 work :-((

When you say "call Apple" are you refering to Apple Care, the Apple Store- who exactly?

That's a sweet deal- though I'm still amazed that Apple takes so much [removed] from Intuit. Why should they be providing software (I assume at their expense) when every other company provides its customers with appropriate upgrades/updates.

What's wrong with Intuit?

 Hi everyone,

I just wanted to be sure that you were all aware that the R10 release of QuickBooks 2010 fixes all the known issues with 2010 running on Lion. So while 2010 is not officially supported on Lion, we've fixed all the problems we've found.

Is there a similar release for 2009??

Also, is there a good place to make a recommendation for the software as a MAC user? The main screen is a real pain. I have like 5 windows open, that all overlap, and am constantly clicking windows to jump around. I'd love to just see a full screen quickbooks with just one main screen that gives me all the info and links I need, rather than all these crazy windows and the strip up top.

 Shelly,

I have R10 for version 2010 and am running lion but I can't email invoices. I get the following message:

"QuickBooks is having problems communicating with your email program."

All was well with emailing invoices prior to upgrading to lion.

Thanks....

 Hi styranger,

That's the right release with the pring and email fixes. What's your default email program? I suspect there's a problem there. This isn't the same as the QB2010 problem on Lion. That one caused a crash. So if you're getting this error message, we at least know we're past that problem.

There's a email troubleshooting topic in Help. You might want to start there. Or I suggest posting this on our forum. I'm not really a troubleshooting person, so I'm afraid I'm not going to be much good to you on this topic.

http://community.intuit.com/ca...

Our team regularly patrols the forum and our other users are great about answering questions. I'm sure you'll get some advice there.

 Hi Joey,

Cool. QB supports Mail, Entourage, and Outlook. I suspect that that there's something in your Mac OS you need to do to tell it that Mail is your default email program. You don't have to do any set up in QuickBooks. It just uses whatever is the default. My suggestion is to start a new post that asks about how to do this. I'm sure one of our great Community folks will have the answer for you.
