New Payment Method for Pay Bills screen

QuickBooks UK : Premier 2012

Using QB2008 Premier I have added a Payment Method of "Debit Card" as I regularly pay one supplier by this means. However, it does not show on the "Pay Bills" screen. How can I make it do so?

Lists>Customer&Suppliers Profile List>Payment Method List>CTRL+N then in Payment Method enter Debit Card and payment type.

Hi mrlopez05

I was not asking how to set up a new payment method. If you read my original post I said that I have already added "Debit Card" as such. So your post was of no help.

What I would like to know is how I get "Debit Card" to appear as one of the payment methods in the "Pay Bills" screen.

When you add anything to a list its important to remember that it will not always appear until after the system is closed and restarted.

Hi Graceman

I've restarted QB many times since I added the new Payment Method. This has had no effect on the list which appears on the "Pay Bills" screen.

Interestingly, I've spotted that the Payment Method list on the "Pay Bills" screen conatins entries which are not shown on the "Payment Method List" screen, even with "Include inactive" ticked, i.e. Credit Card & Online Banking. Conversely there are several entries in addition to the recently created "Debit Card" which are on the "Payment Method List" but not on "Pay Bills", i.e. CHAPS, Contra, Faster Payment, Switch/Maestro, MasterCard, Visa.

So it would appear that the "Pay Bills" list is nothing to do with the "Payment Method List". Any idea if this list can be maintained?

I must first apologise I did not notice you have QB 2008, where you cannot change the pay bills payment method and you are correct the two lists are not the same source.

QB 2012 does exactly what you want though.

Hi mrlopez5

Dohh - I would never have thought of that!! Are you on a mission to gain kudos on the QB forum by making zillions of posts, but that indicate that you haven't read the original question and are prepared to state the obvious?

Err possibly :-)

Actually I got confused as to the version so fronted up to the error, I call it another silver moment I get lots now I am getting older.

I do have 6 different versions of QB on my PC and also use online products as well. so thats my excuse.

I do try and own up if the advise I give is erroneous unless its the wife then I am always right :-) She does not read this !!!

Hi Graceman

My previous message wasn't directed at you - unless mrlopez05 is one of your aliases! Your clarification of the differences between QB2008 and QB2012 was actually most helpful.
