New Homepage for QuickBooks Online!

US QuickBooks Online Edition

UPDATE 4/13: If people are having some script errors while on the new homepage, post about it below and read some comments from other users.

In a day or two, you guys will notice a brand new homepage for QuickBooks online that will look like

To learn more, check out the QuickBooks Online blog entry for the new upcoming homepage. Over time it will improve, evolve and become better based on user feedback.

Once out, you can post comments and feedback here, or on the blog, or directly on the homepage via the feedback widget on the top left.

While the new homepage should work on all currently supported bowsers, it is recommended that people upgrade to a newer browser version. Updating to the latest/greatest will help us deliver newer features faster while not worrying about old old browsers and from your perpective you will not get pestered for a while by intuit to upgrade again.

My personal preference list is in the order below. However you should choose a browser that is supported and you are comfortable with. You can always have more than one browser and try out each.

Google Chrome 4+ (Windows, Mac)
Firefox 3.6+ (Windows, Mac)
Safari 4+ (Mac)
Internet Explorer 8 (Windows)

New homepage loading very slow?
Can you post your browser and System OS name and version?

I would also recommend people to at least  try out Google Chrome and Firefox even if you dont plan to make a switch.

I am using IE8 (8.0.6001.18904), Windows Vista, and I can't get past the new home screen after I log in.  There seems to be some kind of script error and it hangs the browser.  I haven't been able to get in ever since the new home screen was implemented.  Please help.

I am able to get in using Firefox and Chrome, but I need to use IE in order to use the online payroll so I have no choice but to use IE.

Very few people have, but indeed reported the same IE issue as you. Can you mention if you are running any 3rd party addons in IE? Also were you using IE8 32bit or 64bit? Does this script error come persistently or sporadically? Try it after clearing browser cache/cookies too.

Can you screenshot the script error? IE should show it in the lower left corner on the status bar. Knowing the error might help in debugging.

Kinda sucks that my IE8 doesn't give the issue. I am using 8.0.7600.16385
7600 version number is due to running on windows 7, your's is 6001 since thats vistas versions number. I highly doubt there is much difference in running it in windows 7 or vista so something else is definitely wrong here.

Also toggle your compatibility mode button (the one on the left of the refresh button in IE) to see if it changes anything.

I too had the script has stopped running error while loading the new home page. I am running Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate upgraded from Vista, IE 8, Roboform Toolbar, Tuneup Utilities, Norton Security Suite, Ad-Aware, Malware Bytes, ebay toolbar, Skype and a host of other junk that I use very rarely.  I disabled all add-ons, turned off what I could and finally logged in using Chrome and changed the home page back to the old home page.  With the help of the wonderful support folks and a good uninstalling tool, I uninstalled Skype.  My home page worked.

I reinstalled Skype and immediately couldn't login.  When I finally figured out how to turn it off and unload it from the task bar I was again able to get to the new home page.  I'm not sure if they fixed something or whether I was able to finally stop Skype from running in the background.  I guess my QuickBooks Online is more important than Skype since I only use it to call one friend.

Keep up the great work guys.

I also had problems navigating any where past the new home page.  After day and 1/2, narrowed it down to my ISP (Comcast) and a setting in the router.  Soon as I told Comcast Customer Service Rep what problem I was having, he was able to change setting in my router in about 1 minute.  He said that it is a "Smart Packet Detection" Setting in the router.  Hope this helps.

I personally dont have comcast business internet so can't comment either way, but if that setting is preventing some scripts to be downloaded, it can be the cause for script errors on the home page.

I found this link about disabling it, its a bit old so might not apply always...

I have new windows 7 64 bit running IE 8 and Chrome on tripple monitors.  I can post side by side comparisons as soon as I can get thru some work items, but for now notice in I.E. crashes about every other time i hit the onscreen print button for reconciliation reports.  Given that I have a lot of reconciliations to do at year end (tax time), you can imagine how frustrating this is.  Might have something to do with printer (driver) which is HP officejet Pro 8000.  My other printers are offline for a bit and likely will not be online till I am done with this heavy amount of reconciliations.  Advice?  Workaround is to pick print off the menu, which never crashes.

I prefer to use Firefox and have problems with qbo.  I can connect to the login page but cannot complete the login.  I can enter the ID but Firefox crashes when I enter the Password.  Although happening most of the time, it does not happen all of the time.  What do you require in Cookies, History and Pop-ups?

Hi, I am using windows Vista and Firefox 3.6.3 and the pages are slow to load or sometimes will not load at all. I have to click the reload button on my browser for the page to load correctly. This is very inconvenient when entering multiple checks, transfers etc. I have not had a real chance to work with the new homepage but I never really used the other much either so I don't think it will be a real issue for me. Just load the pages correctly and I will be a happy QBO user.
