New Consignment shop, need to know how to enter consignment.

I need to know start to finish how to set up consignment, I believe you enter the person consigning products as vendor but then they are mixed up with your other vendors.  Is there a way to seperate regular vendors from consignment vendors? Is this correct and what do I do from there?

You are correct in that you need to set up someone who gives you an item on consignment. Create an new item for the consigned item and set the vendor. Enter a bill to receive the item (You can either set up the item as inventory or non-inventory). When you sell the item to someone, you will pay the vendor

When you are entering the consignment vendors, you can choose to add something to the beginning of their name such as:  Consign - Bob Jones.  That would allow them to show up in your listing as a group.  Otherwise, yes, they will just be listed in with all of the other vendors in alphabetical order.  Another thing to remember is that they will need 1099s at the end of the year if they sold more than $600 through your store.  You can mark the box for 1099 vendor and enter their id number when setting them up.

The solution

Correction to my last entry:  the amount that would need to be sold is $5000 for a consignment store to issue a 1099 to a vendor.  If you are handling clothing, that dollar amount may not come into play, but for other types of consignment shops (furniture, antiques, make-up, etc.) it could easily be an issue.  $600 is the amount for services performed by an unincorporated vendor.
