Is there a check box to recover forgotten password or id?

Is it time yet?

there is a "forgot password" line but when i put in a user name it says that its wrong and won't let me past that (honestly, can't remember ever putting one in to begin with).

i thought uninstalling the program and re-installing would solve the problem but i did that twice and still get the same box asking for log-in user name and password.  i cannot find any help in the system either.

Isn't that a pain in the a^^>?  Try using a version of your email or possibly your common login with a number.  I'm facing the same darned thing with the IRS right now.

Try the procedures at this link:

http://my.proseries.intuit.com/support/document.aspx?product=PROSERIES_TAX&id=GEN72070

In addition to the link I've provided, there are other online help articles dealing with passwords. I didn't read them all, but just click on Search Online Help (the link right below Browse Online Community), and type in "password."

I know you indicated that you don't remember establishing a password at all. In fact, the help article states that you could be asked for a password even if you didn't set one.

But while I'm on the subject, I strongly recommend you download one of the many free password storage utilities. I use Passkeeper, which is an old but good one, but there are several newer and more robust utilities. Then once you have it installed and have placed an icon on your desktop, you have to force yourself to use it every single time you create a password, no exceptions! Never tell yourself you'll get around to updating your password-storage utility later. It takes only a few seconds to handle it right then and there. I have so many passwords for myself plus my clients that I'd be lost trying to keep track of them any other way. Passkeeper is small and safe, works well, and is easy to back up to my flash drive for transporting back and forth between home and office.

Good deal!

I've used PassKeeper for probably 10 years. It's simple, portable, free, and has never let me down.

Here's a link to an article that suggests some password utilities. The article is 18 months old, but the link still works. I just checked it.

http://gadgetwise.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/06/24/how-to-securely-manage-all-your-passwords/ref=techn...

Of course, you can google password programs and utilities and probably find the newest options.

The main rule, though, is, no matter which one you use, you have to force yourself to enter the password and log-in info into the utility immediately. The day will come when you'll be glad you did.
