Names are not printing on SBBT RAL checks

I received authorization to print RALs and luckily I printed on a blank sheet to test first and I noticed that the name of the client is not printing on the check, just the address.Is anyone else facing this issue?

When you print the real checks, you would have to highlight the names or the ready to print checks, and then the names will appear on the checks. The reason the names did not appear it was because u did not select any clients. It was a test to see that the money amount was within the box.

I have the same problem. It's happening on the real checks but you can just void and reprint when we get it corrected. This happened to me a few years ago and can't remember how to correct the problem. I will be calling tech support when it opens (my 7 am CST) and if you are still having the problem let me know and I will post the answer for you. Or I can get the tech guys name and refer you to him. Have a nice evening.

I've been racking my brain over this issue.

Have you done this in ProSeries? E-File > Bank Products > Transmit Registration Information.

If that doesn't fix it, I'll have to wait to hear back from someone who has figured it out.

I performed that sequence again this morning. Then I printed the RAL check, and it printed fine (including the client's name.)

I don't know whether it would have misprinted if I hadn't followed those steps, but I did follow them and it worked. Also, I think you only have to follow that procedure once now that the season has begun. In other words, I'm sure it's not a daily affair. Also, the check I printed was for a single taxpayer (not a joint check). Did yours misprint with a joint check, or was it a single check? Good luck, and let me know how it turns out. My big test will be when I try to print a check for a joint return.

What procedure did you follow? I've voided and printed checks three times and still no name. Whats going on? SBBT says its a software problem.

It's this procedure, but read the prior posts up above for full information.

E-File > Bank Products > Transmit Registration Information.

Also, the amount of the check is off by $0.96. In other words, the client has been shorted $0.96. I knew that calculation procedure for checks under $1,000 was going to give ProSeries and SBBT fits. ProSeries says the check should have been for $713.99 (which is what I also calculated), but the check comes in for $713.03 (which is what the SBBT calculator comes up with, but that doesn't include my fee). Hey, Intuit and/or SBBT: haven't you ever heard of the KISS principle? I think SBBT must have Rube Goldberg writing its RAL formulas.

I transmitted the registration information and then tried to print but no luck. I'm on hold with Tech support to see if they can tell me what is going on. I actually called in this issue yesterday and have an open case number.

When you get through, let them know about the bank charge miscalculation. See my post right above.

The amount printed on the RAL check differs from the amount calculated by ProSeries (which is the same as my manual calculation).

Here are the specific numbers in case it helps.

Refund = $843.00
Bank charges per ProSeries = $39.01
Tax prep charges = $90.00
Check amount should be = $713.99

Bank charges per RAL check printout = $9.02
Check amount per RAL check = $713.03

Difference = $0.96

The amount shown on the RAL check is the same as produced by SBBT's online RAL fee calculator, but it does not incorporate the tax prep fee into it as it should (and as the ProSeries calculation correctly does). I think this will only affect RAL checks under $1,000, including "low-cost" RAL checks.

This miscalculation will consistently short clients until it's fixed.

I am also having the same issue. Have you been able to resolve the issue. Proseries is not picking up the phone calls to Tech. Ser. I have been on hold for over 2 hrs.

I've been discussing this problem with Pro-Series since yesterday. They sent me a "workaround" solution "aka" a temporary patch. It does not work either.

I've been on hold for over an hour so far this am. I also called SBBT about this problem. They said we would have to wait for ProSeries to get it fixed.

I also noted another problem .. the low cost ral... look up your clients on the sbbt website and you'll see that they all got a ral not low cost... who is going to pay for the finance charges back to our clients???????

ProSeries just didn't have it together this year

Retrun was approved for efiling, but receied error from irs stateing Optional Statement Records, Line 01,02,03, and 04 must be present and must contain significant data. Can anyone shed some light, on this error.

I tried getting through to SBBT on the bank charge issue, but after 30 minutes of listening to that crappy Hawaiian music and the nonstop, repetitious "your call is very important to us" nonsense, I couldn't take it anymore and hung up. I'm pretty sure there phone system is designed to wear you down until you do hang up. I'll give the client the $0.93.

All phone systems should have an option for you to shut off the music and announcements and just let you listen in silence. What's so bad about silence?

I noticed and reported ongoing problems with the RAL calculations weeks ago. In return I received an email response with an obviously "canned" boilerplate answer that had nothing to do with the information in my original email. It was obvious that whoever answered my input had not even read it.

I finally got through to a ProSeries rep. She said that they are aware of the problem and it has been escalted but there is no solution at the moment. However, she said that there is a workaround that has worked for some people but not others. I was transferred to systems support and they walked me through this workaround. It did fix the issue.

THe workaround was a little complicated. I will tell you what I did but you might want to work with the system rep if you are not computer savy.

Here goes:

First, find your proseries data file where your returns are stored on your Admin workstation.
Second, rename the directory as data07old. Copy all the JN1 files to a new folder on your desktop.
Third, create a new data07 folder and delete the JN1 files from your data07old folder.
Fourth, find and rename your homebase folder to homebaseold for all workstations.
Fourth, restore the data files from proseries on the Admin workstation.
Fifth, go to EF Center and highlight returns and receive acknowledgements.
Sixth, go to the Bank Products and highlight the returns and receive acknowledgements.
Reprint checks.

The client came in for his RAL check. All the paperwork, including the SBB&T RAL contract, told him he would receive a check for $713.99. His check printed for $713.03. I handed him the RAL check and a dollar bill and told him to keep the change.

I guess I should be happy because at least the guy's name printed on the check the first time. I guess you either get the name or the correct amount on the check, but not both.

In 5 minutes I created a spreadsheet that gets this calculation correct. Why can't this $1,700 piece of software do the same?
