My Records are a MESS!!! Help

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows : 2008

Our Books are a MESS! We use QB POS v7 and QB Pro 2008. POS is accurate, QB Pro is not! For the longest time, we did not realize that we had to sync the data to quickbooks, and now we have the massive amount of data in QB that needs to be reconciled or fixed.
How do I start over and use a given point of time to sync data from POS to QB? We straightened out our inventory and updated all the data in POS in Oct 2008, I would like to start fresh with QB Database if possible and maybe only sync data starting with 2009. Is this best or should I try to fix the existing QB records? Aaron
