Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! During this time, you can shop, but can’t place orders online, activate products or update account info. We apologize for the inconvenience & thank you for patience while we improve our infrastructure to better serve you. International versions are unaffected. My program "lost" the printer and won't let me install a new one. How do I install a printer - the option is greyed out?

Printing, greyed out options

First, reboot your computer and let us know if that helped.

I've rebooted, I've set the printer to the Microsoft XPS printer, i've done a complete shut down, I've disconnected the printer completely....I think I've done all the fixes  that I tried last time this happened. I remember something about a file in a directory, but I couldn't remember which file in which directory...any suggestions?

Assuming you've worked through global print options and printer and file setup, you might consider uninstalling PS.  You won't lose your data files.  Reboot your computer again.  Download through the My PS area.  Other than than, you may have to bite the bullet and call support.
