Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! During this time, you can shop, but can’t place orders online, activate products or update account info. We apologize for the inconvenience & thank you for patience while we improve our infrastructure to better serve you. International versions are unaffected. For more info, see our community discussion.

My client uses QuickBooks 2009 & sent me an Accountants Copy; however, I have the Accountants 2012 version

US QuickBooks Premier : 2012: Accountant

If I use the file sent to me by the client, QuickBooks says it can not open the file due to the client's file in the 2009 version of QBs.  It says I can open it with the version that was used to create it.  Will the client be able to restore the file when I send it back to them or will they have to manually enter my changes?

If you have 2012, you can't send it back to the client.  You can login remotely to work on their file.  Or, let them know that QB 2009 will be sunset in May.  QB Pro 2012 is on sale (with a coupon) at Costco right now for about $100.
