Must go to enterprise?

US QuickBooks Premier : 2012: Standard

I have a client that has a large data file and purchased a 3 license 2012 version. She did not purchase enterprise. Intuit is telling her that the file will not work with sharing because it is too big and must go to enterprise any thoughts? I never had a problem with a file being too big to work. It may be slow. Is this just another thing that Intuit is doing to upsell?

Try using File >Utilities >Condense to make the current file smaller.

How big is the file?

Have you considered archiving the older years and starting with a new fresh (smaller) file?  There is no file size requirement, but it is aggravating to work on a file that runs slow.  The main reason someone moves to Enterpise is when they cannot add anymore customers or need more users or streamlined users with specific rolls.  Clean up, like Karl sugguested above, is a good strategy since you have the newest program.

And yes, the whole job of sales is to upsell.  At least that is what I have found when client's call Intuit.  But they are a company like you and me and want to sell more products.

I am currently using QB 2012 Pro Plus.  I am the only user in a small company but my file size is approx 165 MB.  I too was told I would need to upgrade to Enterprise after spending hours on the phone with tech support and sending my company file to data services.

The condense data tool did not work and data services was unable to find any thing wrong with my file but they could also not run the condense tool.  Their only options for me were to upgrade to Enterprise or to start a new company file.

Starting a new file is usually less costly than purchasing Enterprise.

A 165 MB Pro file is not that large. Is it running unusually slow or having corruption problems? I have seen a lot of Pro/Premier files in the 400+ megabyte size that were working okay.

We sell software that reduces the effort needed to start a new QuickBooks file. See
