Multiple Inventory Locations for the same product?
Can you have inventory in more than one location? I may have some in one warehouse and more in another, it seems that this is not possible with the online version. Correct?

Hi dougmacnaught,
Location tracking is linked to transactions, rather than inventory items, so there is not a way to use the location tracking feature to divide up your inventory. You could set up parent and sub-items to keep the different locations separate for tracking and reports.
Thank you,

Thank you Maria, but that appears to be a NO. I would have the same Item # duplicated if it were in 3 locations - Correct?
ie. WH1 > Part A
WH2 > Part A
WH3 > Part A
So I would never be able to track how many Part A 's I had in total.
When you say it is Transaction based - please expand?
dougmacnaught,
In Quickbooks Online Plus, we have the ability to assign transactions (sales reciepts, invoices, bills and etc...) to different locations. This is called location tracking in Quickbooks Online. You can refer to locations by different terminology like department or division as well. This is a way to categorize transactons to these categories you setup, for reporting that can be ran for location specific data.
We also offer class tracking, which is similar to location tracking but allows more detailed tracking by offering the option to categorize individual line items on a transaction to a specific class. This also allows for reporting based on class specific data.
You can turn on these features in Quickbooks Online Plus by going to Company tab>Preferences>Categories and then you can put a check next to either location tracking, class tracking, or both. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks
