Multi User login
HelloI'm new to quickbooks and have a question. With the multi user mode, will employees be required to put their name and password before any transaction can be completed? If so, how can I set this up?
HelloI'm new to quickbooks and have a question. With the multi user mode, will employees be required to put their name and password before any transaction can be completed? If so, how can I set this up?
The reason that you would install multiple copies of QB (with different licenses) is so that more than one user can access the same data file and be able to enter transactions. And the same user cannot be signed on and access the data file on two different PC's. So in order to accomplish this, you would set up three different users, from the main menu under Company>Set up Users.
If three different PC's will be accessing three different data files, this would not be necessary.
OK....here's my situation. I have 3 computers that need quickbooks on them. All will be accessing the same data file(different users). I'm building a network for a client and am installing quickbooks for the first time. His main concern is accountability for each transaction. So with multiple users set up, will quickbooks require a login before each transaction? My client wants to be able to check who was doing what at the end of the day.
So you're saying to accomplish this I would need 3 licensed copies to install on my 3 workstations? Then his 5 user license Pro edition should do it right?
He purchased a 5-user license but only needed 3?
Make sure it is really a 5-user license - I don't know if they fixed this, but on the outside of the retail box for a single licensed copy it says something like "Multi-User Ready" and alot of people have gotten confused by that thinking that there were multiple licenses in the box.
Yes - you would install three different licenses on three different workstations, and set up three different users with three different passwords. And turn on audit trail from the preferences.
I have a problem with the multi user mode. QB PRO 2005 run in a central server in my office. 3 user have to work in the same QB file but only one can loggin at the same time. Why multi user can't connect if my QB version have the posibilitty to 5 multi user?
Having a problem with Quickbook pro 2006 on a small network. Bought a 2 license upgrade to pro 2006 to replace the 2004 pro I was using.
The problem occurs when trying to use the program in multi-user mode from two workstations accessing a file on a Windows 2003 Server.
One of the workstations has to be in quickbooks with the file open for the other workstation use to be able to access it. This wasn't the case in pro 2004. Can someone give me a better solution?
I tried calling Intuit to ask if there was a known situation that a user must be an Administrator on Windows 2003 server. If I add a user on the server, he may login and do anythin I limit him to do. However, he can not open QB 2005 premier with 5 licenses as a guest on the server. When I make him an Administrator, which I would not like to do, he can then start QB and use it in the limited access mode I choose. BUT WHY DOES HE HAVE TO BE AN ADMINISRTAOR ON WINDOWS 2003 to run the program. Any employee I give access to should be able to start the program. When I called Intuit. The man seemed to think it was impossible to have 2 people access the .QBW file at the same time in multi user mode. I question the brains there as we do it all the time. HOW ABOUT SOME HELP ON THIS SITUATION. This is a BUG not user error. Thanks
