How can I e-file NYS Fiduciary returns that were rejected when the Federal 1041s were accepted. Checked for errors and then the program wouldn't let me e-file them without the Federal. Message tells me they have to be efiled together. Tried unchecking Federal e-file box. The program was not happy with that.
You will have to file the NY returns by paper. See New York Publication 90, page 7, Rejected Returns:
"If NYS rejects a state return after the associated federal return has been accepted by the IRS, the state return must be filed on paper since it cannot be retransmitted without its associated federal return."
I always check for errors before finishing returns, but none indicated until the state fiduciary returns were rejected. Perhaps tech support should look into it. Thanks for your reply.
