There is one internet provider in our area. Today, the service went out and I was told it could be 48 hours before it was restored. Fortunately, it came back up in a few hours. This got me thinking about a back up plan. 48 hours with no internet will not work during tax season.
My wireless carrier sells a mobile hotspot. Has anyone used such a device to transmit/receive returns? Does it work well? What are the problems?
Any advice is appreciated.
Ah C'mon. Someone must have tried to use Lacerte with mobile broadband (ie. a mobile hotspot). I sure would appreciate your insight...

Hmmm? Take my laptop to McDonald's or Starbuck's and transmit the returns. There is an idea? Does a locked toilet stall qualify for security?

How about subscribing to a dial up as a backup? Definitely not a real winner, but it should handle the e-file transmissions. AOL is $9.99/mo Just sign up for 4 months of the year. Does your provider have a dial up backup?
