Missing QB Pro Timer when QuickBooks is downloaded?

US Desktop Payroll

If you downloaded your copy of QuickBooks and discovered that it didn't include the Pro Timer, you're not imagining things.  Because of the additional bandwidth necessary and the increased time to download, and because only a small fraction of users install this program, the decision was made to omit the QB Pro Timer from the download.

As a work around, I am making this program available to you here.  The necessary files have been bundled into a zip file.  If you do not have an unzip program on your pc, there are a number of free utilities available and you can find one to install here.

Steps to take:

  1. Download the QB Pro Timer zipped file.  I recommend that you create a folder and save the file someplace you know how to find, such as your desktop.
  2. Once the file is downloaded, right click the file and choose WinZip (or your program of choice) and click on 'Extract to Here'.
  3. Once the files have been unzipped, find the file named setup.exe and double click.
  4. Follow the instructions to install.

Does the timer work with Windows 7? Recently bought a new computer with Windows 7.  I keep getting a message that it is a sample file.  If so, is there a solution?  We use the timer function pretty extensively.  Our current Quickbooks version is 2009.  Thanks !

Intuit should let its customer service people know. I called to find out where the QB Timer installer program was or where  I could get it. The installation people transferred me to the business features help department, which spent :45 minutes trying to tell me that I had to subscribe to support for $79 a month to be able to use the Quickbooks Timer. I explained that your website says that Quickbooks Timer is included, and it didn't say that it wasn't included in the download version, and trying to charge me $79 a month for something you represented was included for the purchase price would be a classic bait-and-switch and consumer fraud. I was then transferred back to a woman in the installation help section, who logged onto my computer and browsed through my files for 15 minutes, then asked if she could log onto the operating system for my NAS drive where the install file had been downloaded. She then started a new download of the Quickbooks installer (90 minutes) and told me where to find the Quickbooks installer in a temporary file. It wasn't there. I called back in and the installation help wanted to transfer me to the business features help department and start the run around all over again.

Classic Intuit "customer support" instance. I get a run around every time I call, too. Not to mention the frustration of trying to discuss my issues with someone that barely speaks English.

The Timer program does come on the CD but it does not load automatically. It is in a separate folder titled QBTimer. You will need to install it separately after you have installed the software.

My CPA told me there was a place for my employees to enter the time they arrive and depart; like a time card.  Is this what you are talking about?

Steve, do you know what the current version is?  I tried this and still ended up with version 8.  Many thanks!

Hi Steve,

I did all the necessary steps that you have mentioned but still have problems with New Timer File.  When I start the process of entering the employees name on their computer, it states as .TDB when I require .IFF file at the end so that it can read when they export their timesheets and that it corresponds with the company files that I export from QuickBooks.  Can you please let me know how I can rectify this?

Thanks

Rosanna

Timer uses .tdb (timer data base) for its internal data log. Then you use the Export function in Timer to create a .iif file to send to the QB user.

We need a link to a newer Timer, if there is one. Thanks.

I downloaded the zip files linked in the original response and when I attempt to install the QBTimer program from the setup.exe file, the installation window only offers me QB Pro Timer Maintenance and my only two options are to repair or remove, no where to install.
