Merging 2 companies into one

I am trying to merge two seperate Quickbooks company files to create one company. Ex., we have a janitorial outside and a janitorial inside, I just want one janitorial but all the information from both. I am having a heck of time trying to do this. Does anyone know how to do this?

I am working with two companies on QBPro 2004. One company is Inc. and the other is a sole Prop. We are merging both companies together and going under the company that is inc. We have already opened up a new bank account with the new account number and the new name. My question is how do I combine all the information from both companies to the new one. The one company that is not Inc. I do all my invoices and statements and even bank online. The inc. company I just use to write checks and keep track of the bills and do payroll. This will all take place on Oct. 1st 2004.Please help I am desperate. Thank you in advance and have a good day.

I'm wondering if you received an answer to your issue of how to merge two companies?

you can't merge two company files.

if you are creating a new file that will encompass info from both of the other two companies, i'd suggest using classes and then enter beginning balances for them (under the individual classes).

I agree, nothing in QuickBooks to merge companies. There are some 3rd party software products that may help or we could help.

We have 2 computers that we use quickbooks on. We mistakenly set up them wrong on the network and have posted on 2 different machines and the data did not go to the same place. We got the problem fixed to get the data to save in the same spot but can we merge or combine together what we have already done??

There is nothing in QuickBooks to merge or even to transfer data with the exception of lists (ie customers, vendors, etc). You can use the menu File Export / Import to transfer the lists but note that ALL the given lists will be exported and the IMPORT is a complete replacement. You can use Excel to open the files and delete entries. (make sure you open it as text otherwise leading zeros will be removed when you save it).

There are some 3rd parts products out in the market that might help or we could customize one of our tools. Email me to discuss it.

You can transfer data from one QuickBooks file to another QuickBook file using our Data Transfer Utility. See www.q2q.us for more information and a free demo.

There is nothing in QuickBooks to merge company files. As a matter of fact, there is no way to export then import transactions (ie invoices, etc.). You can export and import lists (ie customers), memorized transactions, and templates.

There are some 3rd party utilities that may help. You can email me for my experiences.

As previously posted, there is no QB feature to do this.
One tool we've had luck with is here:

Right now I am using QuickbooksPro 2004 but some information seems to be located in another company file which is needed to have correct totals and information...I am not sure why this happened as I have not been working here for that long and I am trying to sort everything out. I have hard copies of invoices that don't correspond with the company file I am using but are located in another file. Can I combine these two company files? If anybody can help please and thank-you

Tina
