Mac QB 2010 reports won't sort Alphabetically.
I run QB Mac 2010 v11.0.7 R8 and it won't allow me to sort any of my reports alphabetically. The little triangle doesn't help. It used to work in my older version. HELP!

Hello FrostyDog,
I'm sorry you are experiencing such a puzzling issue. It sounds like this could be a data issue. Here is a link to Debi Calvet's list blessing. Resort all lists, whether they seem relevant or not.
If this doesn't help, then select File>Utilties and Verify the data. Run rebuild if you are prompted to do so.
Please let me know if this helps or post back with more information.
Best regards,
Amy K
This is awesome. It fixed my problem that I have been trying to fix for months. THanks so much!
This is in response to Amy K's answer to you. I have been working with QuickBook for Mac techs since April. About the time I updated my QuickBooks for Mac Version 2009. After that update I began to experience problems so they recommended I upgrade to 2010, R8. I don't remember exactly the steps that created the alphabetizing problem. I pay for tech service and they have been unable to resolve the issue. I have spoken with Level 2 Techs and they cannot resolve it so they turned it over to the level 3 techs who were suppose to call me. This is the second or third time they were to call. It has been almost a week this last time and I have still not heard. They were to have called me that day or the next.
If this is a problem they cannot resolve, they should at least own up. By the way, we have been thru every step you mentioned and then some. Is there someway I can get them to contact me??? I think 3 months of fighting this issue is long enough and that I have shown considerable restraint.
Please help!
Did you ever get this resolved? I'm experiencing the same thing!
and it worked perfectly for me.
I have many of the same problems. I updated from Mac 2006 to 2010 and the program is so full of bugs it is unbelievable. After I upgraded my file would not pass the integrity test. I sent it to Intuit to repair. They sent it back to me worse than before... missing transactions etc.. I have contacted them for 3 weeks but nobody will respond to me. They tell me ICU will contact me but they never do. It is amazing that they put out a product so full of bugs. I would give anything to go back to 2006 but of course they say that is impossible. What a disaster! THE LIST IS A MILE LONG OF PROBLEMS!!!

dalbysc, if you want help, start a new discussion, as I just said in another discussion you tagged onto. Be very specific about the problems with your company file, supplying as good a history as you can in your new discussion.
Hi Debi, I followed the blessings that mikequiver posted below, but my lists don't re-order. I had to manually put back the ones I pulled out of order. Does this mean I have another problem altogether? (I'm here, because my QB/Mac 2009 keeps failing the integrity test and the rebuilds). Thanks for any help.
Here is a copy of Debi Calvet's list blessing. Follow these instructions and see if it helps. It worked beautifully for me. - Mike G.

JIm, this is really a shot in the dark and probably not a good one, but it can't hurt to try! Run these damaged-list fixes (especially the one for the Names list) and see if it helps. (I don't think it will, but you never know.)
=====
Names list "blessing"
* Open the Write Checks window.
* Click the drop-down menu arrows for the "Pay to the Order of" field, but don't select a name.
* With that list open, key in Command-L to open the Name List.
* Drag any customer name (blue dot) out of order (but don’t change its level from main to sub or vice versa).
* From the Edit menu, use the Re-sort List command.
* Click OK.
Items list "blessing"
* Open the Item List.
* If "Include Inactive" is not checked, check it.
* If "Show Sorted List" is checked on the "gear" menu, uncheck it.
* Drag any item out of order (but don’t change its level from main to sub or vice versa).
* From the Edit menu, use the Re-sort List command.
* Click OK.
Chart of Accounts "blessing"
* Open the [Company] Chart of Accounts.
* If "Include Inactive" is not checked, check it.
* If "Show Sorted List" is checked on the "gear" menu, uncheck it.
* Drag any account out of order (but don’t change its level from main to sub or vice versa).
* From the Edit menu, use the Re-sort List command.
* Click OK.

Also, try trashing the preference file located inside the Preferences folder that's inside your user (Home) Library folder. Afterward, you might have to reset preferences that you'd previously customized.
One other thing: Verify the data file (File > Utilities > Verify Data) and rebuild if the verify says there are problems. If it reports no problems, look at the QuickBooks log file (right after the verify) in Console (Apple utility app) to confirm that the verify revealed no issues. If some show there, rebuild, then confirm all fixed with another verify and log check.
This is all probably overkill. As I said, I'm shooting in the dark---and why not?
Good luck!

Thanks for this Debi!
We'd been having trouble with the lists' orders for so long. And now it's all cleared up.
FTW!
