Does Louisiana require filing CIFT-620-EXT if the S-corp has a valid federal extension and there is no projected tax liability? Lacerte prepared the extension in the 2009 program but it appears they no longer do so.
Not only do they not print it, they do not even have it as a form. I read the instructions to answer this type of question.
EXTENSION OF TIME FOR FILING A Return
The Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Revenue may grant an extension
of time for filing the combined corporation income and franchise tax return not to
exceed seven months from the date the return is due. Extensions must be filed
before the due date of the return. An extension can be requested on the LDR
website at www.revenue.louisiana.gov.
And in Lacerte Help -If an extension has been granted by the Louisiana Department of Revenue, check the box. This will generate the appropriate due date on the client letter. The program will no generate an extension form. All extension requests must be requested through the LDR website at www.revenue.louisiana.gov.
Thank you for digging that up - I've got one lonesome LA S-corp, and we would have spent forever trying to figure out how to extend it.
I have several multistate ones and knew I was going to need the answer.
