Long time vendors are disappearing

We are on multi-user.Some users have reported that vendors are no longer there. Other users can see them.We have double checked to make sure the setup for the vendor is not actually Customer, Employee, or Other.Now one of the vendors has disappeared for all of us.Is this a QB Pro 2007 bug?What do we do?

Is it possible that someone is marking some vendors as inactive - not realizing what they are doing? Pull up the vendor list and at the bottom of the screen there should be a box you can check to see all vendors including those that have been marked inactive. There will be a large X to the left of the vendor name if it is inactive. Click on the vendor and remove the check mark from the inactive status box to make it active again.

Thanks for the response Mary.

One of the first things we checked was the active status. The vendor is active. There are some users who can see the vendor, and some users who cannot.

Another twist...
The user used to have some restrictions in their user access, but had full rights to AP and Checks/Credit card apps.
We changed the setup rights for the user to have access to all areas of the QB file. Now the user can see the vendor.

While this is a temporary fix, I shouldn't have to open up the whole QB file so AP users can see vendors.

Any other ideas?

This sounds like a permissions problem. I agree with you about not having to open the entire file so this individual can see a vendor list. I use QB's Premier 2004 so I can't be of much help.

This sounds like it might be a bug in the new 2007 version you are using. Perhaps another 2007 version user can confirm that they have the same problem. If so, I would report it to QuickBooks. as a system bug.

I'm seeing this problem in a multi-user setup with QB enterprise 7.0. For some users, vendors vanish from the vendor center. However, if the user changes the view from active vendors to all vendors in the pulldown above the vendor list, and then changes back to active vendors, they all reappear. The problem is local to each user, so if one user sees or fixes the view, it doesn't affect the other users. It seems like a bug but the workaround, at least for us, is easy.

I am having a similar situation, but in single-user mode.

Occasionally when I go into a Bill via the Vendor Center, after editing the bill and pressing Save & Close, the Vendor dissapears from the list.

I have to change the view to All Vendors and then back to Active Vendors and it returns.

This seems to be nothing more than a BUG.

Anyone know what is going on here or what to do?

I actually did a little test...and the same thing happens when I double-click on the vendor and edit the Vendor information and click OK.

The Vendor is then missing from the list of Active Vendors.

Hi All,

This appears very much like an issue we are aware of with some slight differences.  Please let me know if the vendor(s) in question are online vendors (i.e. vendors who receive online bill payments).  That might help us nail down what's happening.

Yes, the Vendors in question are Online Vendors in that I send them checks using Online Banking.

Hi Steve,

This issue is becoming very annoying.

When creating or editing a BILL for a VENDOR, after saving the BILL I am returned to the VENDOR CENTER and left on the previous VENDOR.

The VENDOR I was working on is not there (not in the ACTIVE LIST).

I then have to select ALL VENDORS to make it reappear.

It is not marked INACTIVE or anything, just missing from the ACTIVE VENDOR list for that moment.

You mentioned in your post that you are aware of this or something similar.

What can we do to fix this?

I spent money for this program and it is not working properly.

Steve,

I would like to concur with the previous QB client that this vendor problem needs some attention. Our A/P personnel are spending way too much time working around this bug.

Here is the problem from our perspective:

Our vendors are not online.
When they disappear from the vendor list we ARE NOT able to see them again by switching to all vendors then back to active vendors.
We are only able to "locate" the vendor by using the custom filter option and typing in the vendor name. Or IF the vendor has an open invoice we are able to locate them by choosing the vendors with open balances option.

The vendor DOES appear on the Bills To Be Paid list, even when we don't see them on the active vendor list.

PLEASE HELP. QB is an easy intuitive program for the most part. This problem needs resolution.

Steve,

With all due respect, how long will this take?

I am sure you have a crack team of software engineers that can go in diagnose the situation and correct it.

If you don't have the team in place to solve this issue perhaps hiring new programmers is the answer.

Quickbooks functioning properly is all you should be focused on.

I spent a lot of money and resources to integrate your software into my business, I expect it to perform.

Please update this community of customers on the solution and the expected time frame.

Steve,

I"m on QB Enterprise 9.0 and it has just happened to me.  The only vendors showing are vendors with zero balance alot of good that does me.  Why is this happening and your posts are dated 2007 and this is now 2011.

I am having the same problem with 2008 (we didn't with 2005). If a transaction pulled up and edited through the Vendor center, the vendor disappears off of the list when the filter is set to show only Active Vendors. To get the vendor to re-appear, we have to turn off the filter and they will be there. If we then turn the filter back on, they remain.

If we just view a transaction (don't make any changes) the vendor does not disappear.

Very time consuming - does anyone have a solution and/or know of a work around?

I'm having the exact same problem with my Customer List.  As soon as I close the customer center, all my customers disappear.  Toggling between active and all clients doesn't solve my problem.  I use QB Premier Accountant edition.  QB knows the customer is somewhere in the system because it will not allow me to create another customer with the same name.  Help!!!
