Legacy flash 8 preventing QuickBooks Pro 2010 install

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows

I downloaded but cannot load quickbooks pro 2010 due to an inability to find install_flash_player_8_ActiveX.msi. I have Flash 10 installed and working but there is a remnant of Flash 8 that persists in my computer that is a legacy from an old corporate network. I cannot remove it using flash uninstaller, and direct removal through the control panel fails since it requires access to 'network resources that are not available' . Why won't QuickBooks Pro look for and recognize the active Flash 10 player? Any suggestions

what is the operating system of the computer? XP, Vista or Windows 7?

It's XP. I spent almost 8 hours on the problem and finally found a work around. The install wizard just wouldn't work, so I extracted all of the download files and then opened the Quickbooks install msi directly. This didn't interrogate my system for Flash, so didn't hit the same roadblock

Try this...

go to regedit and search for all fash 8's entries, and delete them all... I did, and now seem to have installed fine and was able to convert the info from QB2009...

Will keep you posted if further trouble.

I have used regedit to id all Flash8's entries, and deleted them all.

Afterwards, everything are fine so far.  Was able to convert the data from QB2009, have yet tried to use it..

Will keep you posted if I run into trouble again.
