Lacerte to ProSeries Professional

Has anyone switched from Lacerte to ProSeries recently? I used to use ProSeries a number of years ago & was contemplating switching back since Lacerte has continued to get more costly. If so, are you happy w/ the move? Any problems? Did everything convert OK?

I consider Lacerte a top teer program, along with Ultratax and others, but have used both.  Have also used Drake which was fine as long as you didnt need any program support for tax law.  Proseries seems to be a middle of the spectrum program but doesnt pack some of the punches that Lacerte has.  I just cant see the justification for spending the extra money on lacerte.

I have never used Lacerte, but I've frequently wondered if I should switch from ProSeries to Lacerte. Since you've used both, which do you like better aside from the cost factor? Any helpful comments would be apprecitated.

I too want to know which is easier to use and/or which has more capabilities. Why use one more than the other?

Someone who has used both would be best to tell us. Thanks for helping.

I last used Proseries 1999 I think. I only switched because a practice that I bought was using it & we had to settle on one or the other. It was easier for me to change. I did not (& still don't) see nay major improvement moving to Lacerte. There are pros & cons to both. I was hoping for input from someone that has switched more recently, since it has been so many years since I actually used Proseries

I haven't converted from one to the other but Lacerte does offer a lot more than Proseries.

Off the top of my head:O&G modules, 1116 that works for foreign qualified dividends and gains adjustments, 1120F, form 5471 and schedules, 5472, 1118. also 7701(B), 6013(G) AND 6013(H) Elections, 8833 in 1040s.

I use for Proseries for about 500 returns and Lacerte for 25. Fundamentally different how information gets input.
