Lacerte running on Apple machines
Does anyone know if Lacerte will run on Apple MAC's for the Apple ibook (notebook).
Does anyone know if Lacerte will run on Apple MAC's for the Apple ibook (notebook).

I don't know why I keep thinking in the back of my mind that Lacerte has traditionally run on Windows operating systems, and every so often they warn us that we need at a minimum, such-and-such a Windows operating system (which was why I had to get a computer with Windows XP on it six months ago, rather than be able to use my plain old Windows 98 computer for the '06 version of Lacerte).
Assuming Lacerte runs only on Windows, isn't there some sort of option on a Mac, to have part of the computer partitioned off to add a Windows operating system to it? If I'm right about that, then you might be able to run Lacerte on the extra part of your computer where you throw Windows just for Lacerte.
Sincerely,
Amy

Beginning with the 2007 tax year program, Lacerte will require a server running the Windows operating system. Before that, it did not require Windows - we have been running it on a Novell Netware server.
So to answer your question, as long as a Mac server could serve files to Windows workstations, then I expect that 2006 and prior tax years would have been OK. For 2007 and beyond, take a look here:
None of the Lacerte software will run in the Mac Operating System. This includes DMS, the E-Organizer client, Tax planner, etc. For a network server, we currently only support Windows based networks.
With regards to the Mac Boot Camp option on Macs with Intel processors, a Mac Running Windows XP under Boot Camp is essentially just a PC. The software SHOULD work. Although it SHOULD work, Windows on a Mac is not an environment that we test with so there is the possibility that users might run into unforseen problems, thus the unsupported designation.
Is it true the server will HAVE to be Microsoft for the product to function or are they just no longer "supporting" the Novell server ?
I really need to find out.
Thanks
By "not supporting" Novell, we mean that we have ceased testing with Novell as a network platform. This does not mean that the tax program will not work, simply that because we do not test with Novell any longer, issues that arise will likely not be addressed with program changes. Although Novell may function fine with next years software, there is significant risk of experiencing issues that will not be resolvable, since we will not be testing with Novell.
Technically speaking they can.
Apple mac book
Install parallels virtuallizaiton software
Install Windows
Install Lacerte
Not exactly what you had in mind, but Macs can run virtualization software to run Windows apps.
