The 2008 Lacerte Tax program has been certified to work on Windows 7.  As for 2007 Lacerte Tax and prior try running them in XP mode.  For information on how to install and use Windows XP Mode in Windows 7, Click Here.

Running 08 in XP mode works after I install the dot net 1.1 framework.

Moderator's post indicates that it is certified to run in the "real" Windows 7.  I've found that not to be the case because of the inability to install dot net 1.1 on Windows 7.

Better than not running at all but it would be nice to have all years of the programs work on the same operating system.

I guess one reason why all years' programs do not work on one operating system, is because Bill Gates changed his operating systems pretty drastically after his XP operating system.  So why should Intuit go back and re-engineer their old programs, to work on something newer from Bill Gates?  Maybe they finally got tired of saying "How high?" when Bill Gates said "Jump."

Back up before it's too late. For a professional answer, call Tech Support at 1-800-933-9999 (Lacerte)(other numbers ProSeries, QB, or TurboTax). I am a volunteer, not compensated or supported by Intuit.

Amy - I came across your answer here while re-installing the TY2008 software on my Windows 7 laptop in another attempt to get it to work. I suspect that XP Mode is going to be one of the most needed components of Windows 7 for us accountants and tax preparers.

It's not unheard of even now to need a DOS application every once in a while, and many current processors are simply too fast in native mode to run some DOS applications.Have you tried to play PACMAN written for an old PC processor at current 2ghz or better speeds?

Scott

No, Scott, I don't play PACMAN (or other games) on the computer.   (I used to play Pacman occasionally on special machines they had in restaurant lobbies while waiting for a table, back in the 80s or 90s, whenever it was.)   I work, on the computer.  Once a year, on July 4th, I do play "Adventure," an old DOS-based game, on the computer.  I don't think I'll ever get to the 100% level on that game, either.
