Keep QBPOS Pro v10.0?

QuickBooks Point of Sale : Pro 10.0

Have had many issues with this program.  Now in day 27 of 30 day free trial and have to decide whether to send it all back (would need to reinventory etc what a headache).  Running in Win 7 with HP laptop with 6 gB of RAM.  Hardwired to server and integrated with QB Pro financial software.  All hardware purchased from QB and installed by QB support (nice people but rebooting is typically the only solution offered).  Program locks up, Save and Print crashes, buggy messages , debit card reader inconsistent (won't except my pin!).  Very bad for brand.  Have read posts going back a year and surprised that same things still seem to be happening.  You would think the software engineers would be all over these problems, but reading posts is very discouraging.

Send back?  Yes____  No_____

Chose Wisely.....I would send back....look at other programs...then make your decision...QBPOS might be your final decision...but I would not rush into it.....if you have a large amount of inventory consider another progam...QBPOS is not designed to handle more than a few thousand items....once up over 5000 items the program crawls...it is not an efficient database managing software package. Hope this helps.

How often do you reboot your POS computers?  Intuit recommends at least weekly, we recommend daily if possible.

It's a small price to pay when the cost of POSis so much less than the alternatives.

Visit us for free trials and our price list for QuickBooks Enterprise and QuickBooks Point of Sale.

This is my question to? I'm at the end of my trial, I've converted my inventory, which wasn't hard but very time consuming. I haven't had too many problems but I haven't hooked up any hardware. I've just been playing with the program. The thing that gets me is, the concept is great and so far I haven't had any issues except for the details. Simple things like customizing labels. And before someone tries to come back and tell me I can, I know I can in many situations but in some you can't. Like I'd like my shipping label to show the shipping date, which in my case is the delivery date that my staff needs to know when to delivery items. Some labels you can adjust the size but others you can't. It's the little details that are missing, like the fax number for vendors, someone fell asleep at the wheel and then there is your comment that most of these issues have been out there for over a year and they are still not addressed. I've been a QB user for 11 years and I love QB. The other thing is I'm in Canada and there isn't a Canadian version of POS, which makes no sense to me since there really isn't any difference between how a US company and a Canadian company processes a sale. Even tax is not an issue. But becasue of this I can't export my data out of POS to my financial software so we have to do a few more steps to put the sales info into our financial software. But I have no idea what other software is out there in a price range I'm willing to pay. I'm afraid I'll get something else and it won't be as easy or I'll need to change my financial software too and I do want to stay with QB becasue I know it. So Send back? I wish I knew. I'd like to know what you decide to do and if you don't say with this system what do you end up going with. If anyone would like to discuss this privately I can be reached at 69aprilwine@gmail.com.

If you have a chance to go back to version 9, that's what I would do. We have about 45,000 items in inventory and it runs just fine. We are a server/client scenario as well. There are  "detail" issues with this version as well, but not bad enough to buy bigger cause the alternatives I cannot afford... Version 9 is acceptable to me and I will stay with it until they tell me I can't anymore or if I win the lottery. I have seen all of the negative posts about v10. They are scary. Good luck!

Ask your sales person if you can still buy version 9...

We are staying with V10.  It is doing what we want, and support has solved the glitches we have had.  I can't conceive of backing down to an older version, even though it may have worked well for others in the past.
