If I change the income account associated with an Item, is there a way to have it change all previous transactions but ONLY back to a certain date. I only want to change the income account going back to the beginning of this year.
There is no way of doing that in QuickBooks. Instead, you may want to BACKUP your data file, create a new item, make the inventory adjustments for the old and new item as of certain date, find the old item in all the transactions as of this year, and change those transactions to use the new item instead. Compare your pre-and post changes P&L to make sure the COGS are reflected correctly.
