Item List
Is there an item list limit for QuickBooks Point of Sale Pro 9.0?
Is there an item list limit for QuickBooks Point of Sale Pro 9.0?

no, but there is in Qb financial pro/premier
Ella.
I see someone anwered but has nothing to do with POINT OF SALE> As if this date there is no EDIT LIST for inventory in POS 9 and POSv10. A new update came out today Release 7 and I was hoping it would have it but no. They do not care that I have 3000 items and 9% of them, yes 270 items need pricing updates. Everything is going up and there is no way to change the prices.
Banks' answer has everything to do with POS. If you don't have your preferences set correctly so only summary info is exchanged with QuickBooks (or detailed info for sales made on account), you could blow through the list limits in QuickBooks Pro or Premier and be forced to upgrade to Enterprise - to the tune of $3000! This is a serious issue that every POS user needs to think about.
Now that I've defended my buddy, who is NOT an Intuit employee and is NOT paid to answer your questions, yet does it anyway because he's a good guy and (like me) is trying to make the QuickBooks world a better place, I'll tell you how to turn edit list on which is available in BOTH v9 and v10.
In v9, go to Inventory > Item List, click on the little arrow to the right of Edit Item and select Turn List Edit On. Just make sure to do the same thing to turn it off when you're done.
It's a little trickier to do in v10, but it's still there. Go to Reports > Items > Items List. Double click on any item, then select View List. This will bring you to the same old v9 screen, where you can click the little arrow to the right of Edit Item and select Turn List Edit On.
If you have Pro, you can use Price Manager to even more easily do global price increases.
The original question was, "Is there an item list limit for QuickBooks Point of Sale Pro 9.0?"
My answer was, "No" Perhaps I went too far in trying to warn that QB fin does.
Ruth, thanks for addressing the downstream implications re QB fin.
I agree with Ruth; Summary Only is arguably the simplest way to avoid filling up the item list in QB Financial (remember, POS items will show up in QBF as Inactive/Hidden Non-inventory items). I can certainly see where some businesses would want the data duplicated, but for most., it's not really needed.
For the record, the upper limit in (non-Enterprise) QBF is either 14,500 or 14,900 -- it's been awhile since I had reason to check ;)
