When I enter a service item in an estimate and fill in the cost column, it does not show up in a job cost report. The amount is just zero. I want to track my job cost on a service item. Is this possible? I can't seem to find the answer in the help file.
Estimates are "non-posting"-so there is no "cost" nor "income" created by an Estimate. The estimated cost/revenue WILL show up in the Estimate vs. Actual reports. The actual cost comes from purchases from a vendor or a paycheck, etc.

When I export the job cost reports to Excel, all the formulas are there so all I have to do is fill in the blanks for labor cost and the report recalculates. It's easier for me this way since my crews can vary, and there are days that they are all over the place and it would be too hard to track which hours are spent where. A lot of their hours may be just other tasks that would be part of my cost of doing business without being billable. So I just take their hours from their job sheets and figure my costs per job that way.
