ISW and customized reports

US QuickBooks Premier : 2009: Accountant

I have a client who wants to bring in p&l data through ISW and be able to compare to prior months, quarters and years, using averages and variance calculations for budget purposes. I have unlocked the template but is there an easier way to set it up
