ISW alternatives
The new ISW just doesn't work for my clients (classes, formatting, account order, batch printing, you name it). Does anyone know of an alternative for preparing financial statements?

Yes, create your own financial statement design template in Excel without using ISW.
Export the financial statement with the columns that you want to an Excel worksheet. Make sure that you select ALL accounts in the Modify Report/Advanced button, so that you can get every potential account out on that spreadsheet on the top page. I call that the "download" worksheet.
On the next attached worksheet, design your financial statement, referring to the row of each account name and amount and period or class column on the first spreadsheet to print where you want it to print on your second worksheet. This takes just as much time as setting up the ISW financials but you don't run the risk of all kinds of freaky lockouts, random number generation and any of a host of problems that destroy your work in nanoseconds.
