Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! During this time, you can shop, but can’t place orders online, activate products or update account info. We apologize for the inconvenience & thank you for patience while we improve our infrastructure to better serve you. International versions are unaffected. Is there a way to shut off the extra RAM bloat products in QB2012 for WIN?

US QuickBooks Premier : 2012: Accountant

Is there any way to reduce the RAM bloat in QB 2012 for Windows?  We've been using Accountants Premier to work all our clients' QB files for 8 years now.  This is the worst RAM bloat product we've run into.  We really should have a way to shut off all the extras you guys put in this thing.

We also use unlimited tax preparation versions of Lacerte, DMS, Tax Import as well.

In Preferences, you can control not to run silently for quicker launch, and not to allow Search updates. Also, if you don't use IDP or IPN, you can disallow these. On startup, there are tricks to replace the .exe for IDP to a "do nothing" instead of the TSR.

Otherwise, it depends on which functions you need, which services you use, and what needs to access QB. You can control that no other app can integrate. That is in Preferences, too.

If this post answers your question, please give a "thumbs up" or mark this Solved to let others know about it.

If you get an emailed Survey, please take a moment to follow up here, too. Thanks!
