Is medical marijuana a legitimate medical deduction for the State of Hawaii?
Federal law makes it illegal and therefore cannot be used on the federal return, but what about the state of Hawaii tax return?
Most states align themselves with federal law...on something this controversial I would think that it would be big news in Hawaii
I've contacted the Hawaii State Tax office by phone, fax and e-mail over the last few days --- all to no avail. No one at the tax office has responded. Big Surprise, yeah? Anyway, after reading other posts here and elsewhere, we decided NOT to use this deduction. The few dollars it would save would not be worth the hassle later on. Thank you so much for your response, or as we say here in Hawaii --- MAHALO!
