Insert Today's date when another field is completed

what is the formula for:

when a user field 'assigned to' is not blank, automatically put today's date in a date field

I want an automatic date entered (i.e. todays date) into the date assigned field, when a user is selected in the 'assigned to' field

In form rules, when assigned to is not ___

change date entered to the current date

leave "Fire "change" actions only when a condition changes from false to true" checked
