Importing Excel spreadsheet into quickbooks pro, I have been using Excel before quickbooks, and all my transactions are in excel and I want to know if you can import it directly into QB? If you can how do you import?
You cannot import transactions directly from Excel. Quickbooks doesn't have a feature for that. However, you can use a 3rd party application like our IIF Transaction Creator to convert it to an IIF file and then import that file.
What format do you use for your invoices? Can you give any example of your Excel file?
Actually, you can import with Excel. In QB's go to File, Utilities, Import, Excel. I use the 'advanced' button, and do mappings. It's fairly simple. Saves a ton of time!
I am trying to import my checking account info from Excel, but it says "no mappings" or won't let me import...what do i need to do to make it compatible?
You cannot import transactions this way. Only a few lists like the chart of accounts and customers.

No need for a custom program usually - either use the IIF method (and BRConsulting makes a great tool to help with that, see www.bigredconsulting.com ), or an import tool using the SDK method (I like Transaction Pro Importer from www.baystateconsulting.com ). Custom programs can do it (I write those myself), but you are usually better off finding an off-the-shelf tool if possible.
