Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! During this time, you can shop, but can’t place orders online, activate products or update account info. We apologize for the inconvenience & thank you for patience while we improve our infrastructure to better serve you. International versions are unaffected. Important information concerning why you are not seeing Canadian Financial Institutions in your Online Banking List

You are using the Canadian version of QuickBooks 2010 and when you go to select the name of your Financial Institution, you are only seeing U.S. Banks on the list.  Why is this happening?  The most likely reason this would be happening is that you clicked a link to update your list of banks because you did not see your bank listed. This link is currently linked to the file listing the U.S. financial institutions and it has overwritten the list of Canadian financial institutions (fidir.txt).  To resolve this issue, please relate to this FAQ.

For a list of supported financial institutions which support download to QuickBooks, click here.

I am having this problem and have gone through the steps from the FAQ and it still has not given me a solution.

I have Quickbooks 2008, 2009 & 2010 installed on my computer and was able to find the fidir.txt in both the Quickbooks 2008 & 2009 folders but in Quickbooks 2010 it does not exist, nor does the folder Compononts\OLB\filist.  So I still do not see the Canadian Financial Institutions.  The only way I could add the bank account was to open up windows explorer outside of Quickbooks and go to the online banking website (ATB) and import my file into Quickbooks at this point being given the option which account to link the downloads to.

Rather a silly way to have to go about this when this is supposed to be the Canadian version of Quickbooks Premier Accountant Edition.

Hello and thank you for your reply. I tried this method from a previous post, but as the account is no longer linked to a bank online I cannot import the info into it. Running QB 2010 premier. Everything worked back in early October, what have QB done to change things?

Unfortunately this has not been updated for QB2010 where it says:

"Browse to the location of the filist folder:

*

Windows Vista / Windows 7: C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks 20XX\Components\OLB\branding\filist <---- there is no OLB directory in my installation - brand new version 2010 and purchased, downloaded, installed, and working today Aug 24 2010

Anyone have a suggestion how to find the fidir.txt for qb2010 pro in Canada?

its ok, I ended up backdooring the bank, I had my qb company open then I went to IE and opened up the bank I wanted to download from and using the banks setup system I was able to add it to the QB file and now it is in there for future use.
