That is an interesting and uncommon issue. Please tell me how you create those shortcusts.

I went to reports, memorized report section, brought up the report, went to view, add report to icon bar, saved it there and used it for at least a year. Now only some have disappeared and I recreate them and then they disappear after a few hours. I have just had my IT guy reinstall pro 2008 and I will give it a try again

Please let me know if the program re-installation took care of the issue.

Reinstalling did not solve the problem. This morning I went into QB and deleted myself as a user and then re-added myself. I had to set up everything again. So far it is working. Gotta love QB!

If the issue is related to the QuickBooks User List damage, it may be more complicated. Deleting and re-creating a user in QuickBooks may solve some issues, but the user list usually stays somewhat damaged. If you see some other indications of possible data damage in QuickBooks, those may need to be addressed ASAP. In a mean time I strongly recommend you to re-visit your data backup system and make sure you have the daily backups in place.

This just happened to me this morning. I have always created my own Icons and all of a sudden this morning they stopped working. The unusal part is that as a multi-user, only a couple of the users icons stopped working and others did work. Does anyone know of a bug that would cause this?
I have had this problem recently on different dates for different computers within our network. It happens after the user updates and an "upgrade icon" appears on the icon bar. It renders all custom icons useless, but the find, acct, or other standard buttons work. Remove the "upgrade" button and redo all custom or memorized report buttons back to your icon bar. If you do not remove the "upgrade" icon from your customized list, it continues to render buttons useless, even if you just reset them. The last time this happened to me, I pressed the "upgrade" button and very quickly had a sales rep chat open. I explained the issue and was quite upset that the problem button would not yield an answer. Sales does not care about customer support, only upgrades. A good sales person would have gotten me to support as soon as possible. Their answer was that I just needed to upgrade. I don't think they realize that this is going to cause a negative affect on sales. Why would I buy another product from a company that rendered my custom icons useless every time they want more sales? I have been a Quickbooks cheerleader for years, but I can't find my poms poms at this time.
I am also experiencing the same custom icons suddenly stop working on several computers. Sometimes they last for weeks, other times you re-create them, not even closing QB and they stop working.
Can someone look into this before it drives my users crazy.
Running QB 2010 with latest SP
I originally started this thread. Since then I have contacted support. Database is perfect, problem follows user not computer. After demonstrating all that to support they looked into the problem more and now claim that it is a bug in R5 for 2010. And is corrected in R6 which is not out yet. This was two weeks ago, no R6 yet.
Disappointing that there is nothing in the knowledge base, yet QuickBooks is aware of the problem. Or any may have just been blowing me off. I guess time will tell at this point.
I have had this problem ever since upgrading QB2010 and it makes me nuts. I have tried re-creating these reports several times but they never last for more than one session. I am in complete agreement with Deborahdtw when it comes to our "pom poms" for QB at this point. Have been a QB user since its inception.
