Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! During this time, you can shop, but can’t place orders online, activate products or update account info. We apologize for the inconvenience & thank you for patience while we improve our infrastructure to better serve you. International versions are unaffected. For more info, see our community discussion.

I need to take a discount on merchandise that has already been received into inventory

QuickBooks Point of Sale : Basic 10.0

We purchased some merchandise that was customized for us.  We received it into inventory, but after some discussion we decided we were not happy and should voice this to our vendor.  In return, they have offered us 20% off of the merchandise.  How can I apply this discount after the merchandise has been received into inventory?

Solved!

The solution

Unfortunately there is no way to accomplish this. You will have to do a reversal on the receiving voucher to put things back in their normal state and then recreate the voucher. However there is an easier way to accomplish this. The first thing that I would do is go into your original voucher that was created and then click on the "I want to" button>Copy>This will in turn mirror that same voucher so you don't have to manually bring everything in. Then you will click on discount to put a 20% discount on the items. After you are done simply save it as usual. After you've done that you want to go ahead and reverse that original voucher. You do that by going back into the original voucher>Click "I want to">reverse and then save.

Hope this helps. If so, please mark as solved and if not don't hesitate to ask more questions.

Thanks, I figured I would have to reverse the voucher, but wanted to make sure.  Thanks for the Copy shortcut!  I didn't realize you could do that.
