How to uninstall QuickBooks 2008 Pro, if I have installed in the meantime QuikBooks 2009 & 2010 Pro?

How to uninstall QuickBooks 2008 Pro, if I have installed in the meantime QuikBooks 2009 & 2010 Pro? I installed each year a new version into its own (recommended) installation folder. Now I ended with all three of them. If I try to uninstall QuickBooks 2008 Pro through Add/Remove Programs, I am getting error message "The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it.    OK". The QuickBooks 2008 Pro can be started. If I try to reinstall it from the Installation CD, I am getting the very same error message.

I have all 3 versions installed and managed to uninstall 2008 without error.

What operating system are you using?  From the error message, it leads more toward a error with Windows Installer, maybe run some cleaner utilities (like cc cleaner).

From experience, these errors are hit and miss. You are almost better to leave QB2008 on the system until you have to re-install windows :)

If you are looking for disc space, we can keep troubleshooting this issue.

I am still using Windows XP SP3.

It is a fair size computer with 4 hard drives chopped to 9 partitions. Computer is reasonably maintained (I built it) and problem with uninstallation of QuickBooks 2008 Pro  is probably the only problem I can currently think about. To rebuilt the Windows system would probably make me busy for a couple of weeks. All those [removed] programs tend to have issues with each other and it takes a while to make them to behave. So I do not feel like rebuilding a computer. I have better plans for my holidays.

Dear QuickBooks 2008 Pro installation folder was taking about half a gigabyte (480 MB) on my HDD, and there is a very little chance I would have ever used it again. I thing, it is a matter of maintenance of the computer to get rid of so big useless folder. By not being able to uninstall QuickBooks 2008 Pro the normal way, I decided to try to use "Your Uninstaller! Pro 7 (2010) from company called Ursoftware. I thing, I got lucky. Your Uninstaller! Pro removed selectively the QuickBooks 2008 and left the 2009 & 2010 versions untouched. At least, they seem to work fine. Then, I removed couple of leftovers together with the whole QuickBooks 2008 installation folder by rebooting into Save Mode with Administrators rights and by deleting it.

You have somewhere in your knowledge base a mention about problems with updates in the case of multiple installed QuickBooks programs. It was described as if the Updator has a problem to decide, which version of QuickBooks the update belongs to. I do believe, there is a similar problem with uninstallation of older versions in the ;presence of the new ones. It looks like th Windows uninstaller gets confused.

Thank you for your support.
