how to post a bank deposit error

 

So Wells Fargo deposited somebody else's check accidentally into our business account? I didn't catch it until the next month. I went in the bank and they quickly took it out of my account and apologized for the error. Problem is, how do I post the deposit and the debit???

Record a deposit and an offsetting check in the check register. Post them to a miscellaneous expense account. They will zero each other out.
