How to enter spoilage/thrown items

How do I enter items that we prepared but threw away due to spoilage (we are a convenience store)
How do I enter items that we prepared but threw away due to spoilage (we are a convenience store)


Use inventory adjust, set the adjusting account to COGS or a sub account of COGS called spoilage, lower the qty on hand
I do not use QB to track inventory. How would I do it them. I cannot find anything about inventory adjustment in my qb
