In the existing company, go to the File menu - Utilities - Export - Lists to IIF Files.  Choose the lists you want to export and click OK.  Save the IIF file with the name and location of your choice.

Then create a new company.  For the industry, select Other/None.  After you have created the new, empty company, go to File - Utilities - Import - IIF Files.  Select the file that you exported from your original company and click Open.  That should import all of the your list information.

Thanks, Steve.

After goofing around for awhile with this, I discovered a simple way to do this without exporting and importing lists.

My simple method is to backup the company you want to copy from, then restore that company and saving it using a different file name.

Do you think this presents any problems that I should be aware of?

The solution

It depends on what you want in the new company.  The method you described will give you a company that is identical to the original company except for the file name.  The method I described will give you a company with the same accounts, customers, vendors, etc as the original company but with no balances or transactions.

Once you restore the file with a different name, you then can use Utilities, Clean Up, Delete All Transactions. This leaves all lists but removes all activities.
