When I email an invoice it automatically goes to Outlook or something, and I don't have that as my normal email account. I use webmail (hotmail) which used to be outlook express. I can't seem to find an option in the qb program for changing default email settings. Anybody have any luck with this?

In your Control Panel, go in your Internet Options. From this new window, click on the Programs Tab and try to change your default e-mail program used to your webmail instead. Restart your Quickbooks and see if it still opens Outlook.

To the best of my knowledge QB will not work with webmail. Intuit reps (Eric for one) have said previously that QB requires MAPI-compliant email software and recommend Outlook, but QB works equally well with Outlook Express and POP3 mail servers.
There is no option within QB to change your email software, it uses your Windows-default email software as Genius explained - provided that the software meets certain standards.
Not sure what you mean, "hotmail used to be outlook express". You also refer to Outlook ("or something") as "not your normal email account." Outlook and Outlook Express are 2 examples of email software. They are not "email accounts". They can be configured to send and receive email through many different email accounts and services. iI think you misunderstand. You can use Outlook Express with some webmail services including Hotmail, but they are not and never were the same.
SOME webmail services also have a POP3 server option. If yours does, you could set Outlook Express as your default email software using your existing email account.
Even if your webmail does not have a POP3 server, you could open a free Gmail account and configure it to send and receive all mail from your existing "normal" email account, then set Outlook Express as your default email software and use it to access your Gmail account.
You seem very confused, and this can be a complicated subject. I doubt it can be adequately explained to you in this forum. I recommend you get assistance on-site from someone more knowledgable than you about email.
