How do you record tools (Fixed Assets) in QB for Mac?

US QuickBooks for Macintosh : 2012

How do you record your tools (Fixed Assets) in QB for Mac? I run a Custom Leather Works business, and would like to keep track of my stamps, mauls, general tools, etc. How do I record them as being purchased, keep an inventory of them, and track the depreciation?

 QB for Mac doesn't have a good system for tracking Fixed Assets.  I'd probably recommend using a spreadsheet to track them and calculate depreciation, and then make journal entries to record the depreciation.

However, small tools are usually expensed immediately, rather that tracked as a Fixed Asset.
